How to overcome my fear of dentist?

I don't know exactly how you feel because I don't have dental phobia but I used to be afraid of going to the dentist. I replayed inspirational dialogue from anime in my head, like "you can do it!", that sort of thing. After the dentist is done I noticed it was all in my head because it didn't hurt at all. If you have headphones you could listen to music, if they let you of course but I don't think they would as it doesn't block access to your mouth.

I think they would let you wear headphones. My dentist even has movie glasses and headphones so that you can watch a movie while you get dental work done
