The egg, Though it probably didn't start out as a chicken egg, most likely many tens of thousands of years with each generation of whatever came before the chicken slowly becoming what we know now as the chicken.
So the egg.

Talking to a bud of mine who's a bit more well versed in these matters than I... He told me chickens were likely domesticated from the red junglefowl or similar species. So apparently neither the chicken nor the egg came first. It was that weird jungle pheasant thing...

I have finally solved this issue and you all can rest your heads.
Using today's modern devices, I was able to place an online order for both a chicken and an egg. Whichever was to arrive first would solve this reoccurring question.
After weeks of waiting, an egg showed up at my doorstep. I was so relieved! One of humanity's burning questions finally answered.
So in conclusion, the Egg came first. The chicken did not arrive until later on in the week.
Modern innovations can solve yesterday's problems with ease. Remember that, kids. :P

How could an egg come about without a chicken? Something must evolve into a chicken in order to lay an egg.
The end.
