Just a trivial fact: Okinawa is home to the Iriomote cat that is also an endangered species. It has been mentioned in a few anime and the ones I know of are Tokyo Mew Mew/Mew mew Power (Ichigo/Zoey has the DNA of an Iriomote cat) and Azumanga Daioh when they go to Okinawa and actually bring the cat along home. http://i925.photobucket.com/albums/ad100/rinakitto/Screenshot%20at%20Mar%2013%2016-00-12_zps9zcs6r81.png http://i925.photobucket.com/albums/ad100/rinakitto/Screenshot%20at%20Mar%2013%2016-00-44_zpsvpbxxuwi.png Tokyo Mew Mew https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/3b/aa/53/3baa5312f8aab10cb984fb0a9fa10a90.jpg Azumanga Daioh

I was born in Okinawa, and my mother's family lives there, so I can tell you what I know from living and visiting there. Can you list any specific things you'd like to know? Otherwise, I can list some random stuff. Keep in mind, I only remember being in Okinawa and Tokyo. From what I have noticed: Okinawans are more relaxed and gentle. Slower-paced than Tokyo people. I often hear people from mainland Japan being racist against Chinese and/or Koreans or foreigners in general, but never hear bad things about them in Okinawa. There seems to be regular Chinese/Taiwanese as well as American tourists in Okinawa, so I think they are more accepting of foreigners in general, in Okinawa. It has a much more multi-cultural feel to it than Tokyo. Also, because Okinawa used to be its' own nation, we have our own pride apart from mainland Japan. Okinawan has its' own language and culture(even national costume and architecture), but nobody really speaks it, but you can learn some phrases from culture centers or festivals. Okinawa is very easy to compare with Tokyo by how Hawaii is to USA. PS: If you ever decide to visit Okinawa, I recommend winter. Summer will be SUPER humid and hot. I remember I would get nosebleeds a lot from the heat, as a kid. Winter in Okinawa is like perfect room temperature.

O_O Kohagura may I message you? I don't have too many questions but its kind of a lot. Otherwise I can just type out the questions on here, whichever is more convenient to you. ^-^

Sure. XD Don't worry, the more specific you are, the easier I can answer them. Either here or a message, I'm fine with either.

Kohagura Is there any place you would suggest for tourists to go in japan as a must for culture and/or history?

What boundbyluck said but more specifically for Okinawa, Japan (Naha). Or just some good parks to visit. What are the transportation options? I have looked up that aspect already but was wondering if there was something specific you knew about it. What is the exchange rate for money over there?
