Question about Japan

zanthia
Hi Everyone! I had a(few) question(s) regarding Japan as the title says. I'm not sure if they will be answerable but I would appreciate any input or information anyway! ^-^ So I was interested in Okinawa, Japan. Does anyone know anything about Okinawa, Japan? What are some travel methods from the airport to a hotel in Okinawa? What should I know about Japan? Thanks for any information. ^-^

Well from what I've heard they have beautiful beaches and aquariums. The beaches sometimes are not for swimming purposes cause of the season I guess. I read that somewhere. So best to check that first. Travel options in Okinawa you got train, taxi and rent-a-car i suppose. here i hope this can help you :) http://en.okinawastory.jp/tourist_information/transportation/ I wanna go there too this summer XD

Okinawa is a relation with a base of U.S. forces, and it's easy for English to be understood, so I think it's good for travel for a foreigner. I think it's better to be careful of a radical activist if one is warned. It's said that the local person is in trouble, too.

I wouldn't go in summer unless you really like unbearable heat and humidity -.- Best time to go is the end of March/beginning of April for the sakura and hanami! It will be a little breezy about then, but totally worth it. If you must go in the summer then unless you like rain I'd go after June/July sort of time. Check online for a more accurate estimate of the rainy season. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are worth a visit, and in Nagasaki you also have Deijima (which has been reconstructed as it was originally) that's a nice little place. In Kobe Mount Rokko is worth going up at night; it has one of the best five nightscapes in the world. Osaka has a giant ferris wheel, and is quite nice for walking around, also one of the biggest castles. Nara is lovely and peaceful, a lot of temples and you can feed the deer, but watch out they nip sometimes. Kyoto, again a lot of temples. It was winter when I went, but I stayed in Yamaguchi near Fuji, beautiful lake, and if you take the bus around you can find a tonne of stuff to do; we found a little kimono museum, where a guy had made a while collection of kimonos called the seasons. Well worth a look! In Tokyo there's a lot to do, I'd highly recommend doing one of the coach tours for a day! There's Sunshine City - basically a big mall with great views at the top, it was my favourite place to go. Harajuku is worth a visit if you're into the Lolita scene, it's where a lot of them go at the weekend. I would invest in a rail pass, which you have to get before you go! http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361.html My mum got one of these when she came to visit; you can only use it if you don't live there, so it was no good for me at the time.

Thanks actually I was looking into the Japanese Rail pass but I wasn't too sure if they would work in Okinawa or not and I don't want to waste my money. Unfortunately May is actually the only time I can go. ^-^;

May shouldn't be too bad heat wise.
