how do you think you would handle being an idol in japan

keiseki
I think I'd do pretty badly. Nah. Haha. Idol life's pretty tough, for the carefree. (So is being a model there.) Kohagura's right about the intimacy and scandal issues. Might be better off sticking to covering songs and dances.

@Keiseki Yeah I think that is the best way to become an idol. Be a net idol who doesn't show their face to the public, that way you don't have to deal with publicity/scandal issues. You can choose whether or not to show yourself, and you can sing the songs YOU want to sing, not what your agency wants you to sing. Either way, you still must please your fans if you wish to stay popular, though. So that can be stressful. Also, I once was friends with someone who had a wonderful singing talent, but I feel like his dream to become famous kind of ruined the friendships he had before he became popular on Youtube. It ended up hurting most of all, for one of my best friends whom he was dating when he started, when she found out he had been flirting with another guy, and he broke up with her after. So... depending how you value your friendships or if you can handle the sudden fame, it can be bad too. You must also be prepared to be objectified... Male or female, you will be objectified and compared. I remember the friend mentioned above was kind of upset about how this group of people would make a chart of Youtube singers who are gay, and they had his name on it. He's bi, and he doesn't have a problem being seen as gay, but the fact that they pretty much compiled a list like that for people to drool over offended him.

Very good point. ^^ Doing so indirectly though, is much better than being an idol onstage. You can interact with people on a more comfortable scale, though yes, it's still inevitable to avoid judgment. Overtime, people would start building up their ideal image of how 'you' should be, and if you were the blunt kind, welp-- your rep will suffer. Still, better other ways than the stage idol business. Just my thoughts. -thumbs up-
