Where are all the Otaku's?!

Ya i live in cali and id LOVE to go to one of those but for some reason they all take place in so cal. The only one i can really think of in nor cal is the one in sacramento, and if im putting 800 miles on my car it better be a week long convention!

Yeah I agree conventions do make it difficult specially since you always have to spend or travel. Is like biker meets and like a pilgrimage. Very trouble some. If we could come up with a universal tell for otaku's and yet discrete it would be great.

I think it depends where you live. A lot of people don't even know what anime is which is a bit sad imo. :/ You just have to be like OMGHAIILOVEANIMEANYONEELSELIKESIT??? but you might want to be more discreet =P

Otaku's are usually socially ostracized by people who know nothing about the fan base that they come from. Generally speaking it's like high school clicks. The second an otaku or anyone that likes anime tries to drum up a conversation about anime to the commonplace person they are usually confused or overwhelmed. Then they proceed to ask "what are you talking about?" or make the comment of "Nerd." And look at you in an odd fashion for the rest of the semester of the class. In other words many otaku's hide their anime knowledge to seem "normal" in the workplace, the only way my co workers know I even like the genre is because I carry around a copy of Hetalia issue 1 in my bag and am caught reading it on my lunch break or at school when I should be studying. (Sorry about the needless banter )
