I will be venturing to Japan this summer as well. Tell me more about that rail pass please. Did anyone rent a mifi? If so, any recommendations on brand ?

You can get a rail pass before you go to Japan, it's what my mum did when she came to visit. You can't use it as a resident, but as a tourist you can ^ ^ http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361.html
