Is Manga considered an Art Form?

redhawk
Some say it is, others say it isn't. What are your opinions on the matter, I'd like to hear them.

Almost everything can be considered art. I remember a few months back someone asked a similar question about music, my answer was yes: anything that makes use of one's own abilities to craft any sort of content is, in my book, worthy of being called art. Manga is art. Grafitty is art. Cooking, dancing, writing, etc. It is all art. The only difference is how each is being viewed by society, and that's just subjective.

Key pretty much summed it up for me. I read a little bit of my first manga ever today, very exciting. ^.^ I really have been missing out.

Dude, if anime and manga aren't considered art, then what is... I mean seriously, just go and watch 5 cm/s. It isn't known as 5 wallpapers per second for nothing after all...

Quite the money-making one too actually. Think of all the official illustration books people are willing to fork over Uncle Sams for.

@ace_akai Agreed.

Like previously stated; Many things are considered art. I find Manga to be a type of art, just a different style. Anything someone took the time to create to make others happy is art to me. In fact I also find languages a type of art. So yes, manga is art ^^ An amazing art at that! ^^
