I honestly can't remember anymore what was the very first anime I watched but I do know it was a movie and not a series. Either Ghost in the Shell or Macross: Do You Remember Love. I was a little kid back then though and did not even know much about anime (probably 5-6 years old at the time). I faintly remember wanting to rent the VHS tape while visiting Blockbuster one day and watched it without really being able to grasp the full story back then. The first series I really got into and watched though was Dragon Ball because I had a lot of cousins that were into it. From there, my obsession grew and here I am now.
My first "Anime" expereince (I don't count Pokemon, Digimon, DB, or other shows I thought at the time were the same as cartoons) was Cowboy Bebop. Although I had seen other Anime before, this was the first show that stood out as being a real "Anime". But I defiantly have love for all the shounen anime shows I watched before (I have an entire bookcase of DB, DBZ, DBGT videos).
O3O i will. Tis a good series. Love jrpgs and anime based on them. Also giant robot anime. Can range anything from king gainer to evangelion to big o to mobile suit gundam ect. When youtube fails i crunchyroll, daily motion, or google it.
I guess if you want to go technically....Before I was born because my older brother loved dbz, I mean I knew what Freiza was and that he was super powerful and about goku and gohan, Before I even knew I could remember things...
Then I watched the kai version on tv, Somehow not knowing anything and everything at the same time, It was weird.
Though the first anime I actually got into was Naruto when I was like six or seven, Went to a friends house at sleepover and he had Ultimate Ninja 2, Well we played it all night and before I knew it I was kicking his butt and asked him about it. Then when I got home I watched it all online.
I was in the third grade when I saw my first anime. During this time my Mother and I lived by ourselves, I didn't have a father figure, and my older siblings lived with their dad. So I was an only child. I got picked on a lot, and had no one for friends except my stuff animals. I came home one day after school, really upset, because a boy called me horrible names, tripped me making me land in dirt face first, and I just wanted to be invisible. Well I sat on the couch and turned on the TV, and Cartoon Network had their good ole Toonami on. Sailor Moon was being showed, and it was the episode "Jupiter Comes Thundering In"...I fell in love with it immediately. All of the Sailor Senshi's felt like they were big sisters to me. The anime saved me from going into depression and kept me from being lonely. Sailor Moon helped make me become stronger, more confident in myself, beautiful and loved, and showed me that things I wanted were possible.
After Sailor Moon I soon discovered other animes, like Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, DBZ, Inuyasha, and Wolf's Rain. I was completely hooked forever.
I can't remember how long has passed, but years ago, all I could remember, the first anime to mind, was Bleach, pretty much later I got impatient and wanted to watch the already aired subbed episodes, then when I caught up, I got bored and looked for other good anime, all else was natural to me, making me realize... I AM OTAKU!! HEAR ME ROAR!!!
