Well there's a huge debate on weather your brain is related to what you call you. Or your consciousness.
When brain transplants are possible, and they will be.
If i took your brain, and chop it in half put half in one body, half in another. Where would consciousness be.

It's the brain. I doubt our identity could be anywhere else. But it'll be interested to learn about what happens from brain transplants

I agree with you that's in the brain.
But thishttp://www.superconsciousness.com/topics/science/why-consciousness-not-brainis one of a few theoriea that differs:

God matters little in everyday affairs. I believe he exists, but he is beyond our comprehension. He has provided the truth. Now it's up for us to wake the hell up.

I can only judge base on evidence and so far, there's no evidence in any religion that I can accept. Probably cause I'm pretty empirical about that. I'm also generally not a militant atheist, I don't really care what other people believe. Until people try to push religion onto others like with creationism and pushing religious moralities on a diverse population. That'll make me pretty militant
In terms of the consciousness and brain bit, I'd say it'd probably depend on which parts of the cerebrum you're taking since each lobe stores different things. I think the specific individual connections that our brains develop make up what our personalities and consciousnesses are.

I'm an atheist Buddhist >.< I believe most religions teach people to be judgmental and they cause more trouble than they're worth : x Religious people are so afraid of their country or their children or the planet, etc. being tainted that they get offensive and feel like they have to do something about it. It ends up causing unnecessary tension that often times ends up in conflict that results in a lose lose situation.
I'm not sure what to say about the brain though O.o I do suppose that's where our personality comes from, so it's possible that we can transfer "us" into another body, or vessel.

I was raise Cristian; however later fell away from it...I'm not faithless it's just I take from many religions...I'm not one to say you can't believe what you want but think every religion has flaws. the bible nor statements on religion was written/translated by a god, messiah, or angel. humans did this...false profits have been know to exist. nothing is absolute. religion has been the cause of most wars and countless innocent deaths of men, women, and children through out time by false profits and followers who followed mostly out of fear of the after life...though others too killed in the name of religion as well. never could people say lets agree to disagree so we can move on...I think many choose to believe in a heaven because they fear what comes after death for themselves and their loved ones...I choose to mainly because I want to believe in something but not the big bang theory. I feel that if nothing comes after death and people just vanish to me that'd be heaven...you'd not know you'd ever been nor will you feel...your mind is gone and so are you...for someone such as myself who deals with depression and a vast number of other trialing things I don't mind death...death is apart of life just as life is apart of death. also little fun fact those in older religions biased on Greek and Roman types of gods/goddesses/demigods/mythology; people would put 2 gold pieces on the deceased's eyes one on each. this was supposedly to pay off the pilot of the river sticks to take you across into the after life. if you didn't have payment you'd remain there in limbo; only the rich could really afford to request to put gold pieces over the eyes once passed though.
