You don't have to force yourself into any predetermined category. Just love what you love.

I used to be really into screamo, the devil wears prada, the Jon Bennet, Circle takes the square, From Autumn to Ashes and all that. I still work with some screamo bands like pierce the veil and escape the fate. I still like it, but not as much as I used to be

I absolutely cannot stand cute things. Stuff like moe makes me want to gag, and while I don't listen to screamo, I do listen to metal and metalcore bands.

You do realize bands like The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, and etc. aren't screamo?
Most of that is just under the generic Metalcore/Post-Hardcore tag.
Screamo itself is more along the lines of The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Circle Takes The Square, Loma Prieta, and etc.

Being an otaku doesn't always mean that you like cutedesudesu stuff.
Technically, it most often means that you have an interest in Anime and Manga.
While it's possible that being an Otaku could easily influence what you may like more,
it doesn't exactly dictate your taste in music..
Frankly, even if that were the case, not all manga and anime are kawaiisugoisparkle anyway;
series such as Hellsing, Jojo's, Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop are far from it.. (I find)
And that's just a few of many examples.

Death Note has screamo in the 2nd opening I believe...
Also, just because you're an Otaku doesn't mean you can't like screamo. There are a lot of screamo bands in Japan too.
I don't know who the artist is or if this is even concidered screamo, but I do have a song in my music library called "HYBRID TRUTH". It's japanese. o3o

Can otakus listen to screamo?! I don't think it matters if you like "screamo" or not when you're an otaku. In my case, I've been listening to screamo music WAY back when I didn't even think about watching or liking anime. Look at me now. And I still love listening to Deathcore/Death Metal, not much into screamo (I don't really like to consider "screamo" a genre). Deathcore just sounds so... Powerful and brutal, with some disgustingly beautiful gory vocals. I.E, listen to ACRANIA or Ingested and you'll see what I mean.
And about the cute things... While I agree with you about liking something so cute, innocent and colorful (anime) when, according to society, if you like "screamo" (because it's always something dark, negative or satanic to some people) they expect you to like "dark" stuff, not cute things. It seems a bit off to them.
But who cares?! I think there's nothing wrong in liking anime while you listen to some screamo. I sometimes do like cute things on anime, and I always despise them at the same time. But I love myself some more dark gore-ish, blood-tearing psychological anime. But it certainly doesn't have to do anything with music taste... Does it? DOES IT?!
And I see you like Fit For A King... Quite interesting, used to listen to them. Until I kept searching new bands. :P
