Who doesn't love a fantastic SRPG? I haven't played much of them since I never really owned the consoles they were on, however, I recently got a 3DS so I should really pick up the newest iteration.

Ah yeah Awakening is pretty good. If you play the older ones though expect them to be alot harder. They made Awakening a bit easier than the rest. Grab an emulator on your PC and try the old ones. They are all really good.

^ I completely agree, and they changed the last Front Mission from a SRPG to one of those Armored Core types. Final Fantasy Tactics story is one of the best ones Ive ever played. I havent tried Disgaea though.

Wow, Fire Emblem is such an Awesome game series, love it so much. Possibly the Jugdral Saga is my favorite out of the entire Fire Emblem franchise. IMO it had such a compelling story and was such a epic game Overall, Holy War was awesome (deeply enjoyed the two part story) and Tharacia 776 was hard and unforgiving at points(damn stamina system and Dark Magic poisoning you lol). Also Tear Ring Saga is fun (not related to Fire Emblem but is similar due to it being made by Shouzou Kaga, the creator of the Fire Emblem series [ the original games #1-5, 6-13 were developed by someone else] after leaving nintendo). Anyways Love the series, the manga I'm trying to make was deeply influenced by Fire Emblem.

I like Tactics Ogre even more than FFT myself. Both are fantastic. Fire Emblem I loved the GBA ones, but for some reason never got around to the others. The Shining Force games are really basic in comparison but simple fun stuff that's similar. Definitely a fan.

@mumbles Genealogy of the Holy War, in the desert map when you think its all over and you are about to beat the game. Love that part of the game, caught me completely by surprise. The only one I havent beaten yet is Gaiden, because I didnt understand anything that was going on (The text was all code/numbers and some japanese) So at one point I just decided to start over and find an english patch. I havent tried Tear Ring Saga, you recommend it?

@Jean Rivera I agree, still need to beat Gaiden and Mystery(remake). English patch is a must haha. Tear Ring Saga is a fun game, it incorporates elements from Gaiden such as playing 2 different protagonists: Runan and Holmes. Also uses the Skill system. Runan is your typical Lord (he is a Sword user), and Holmes is more of a Warrior type (he uses Bows until he promotes and then is able to use Swords). Runan's campaign is the linear style as only able to progress forward as for Holmes he is able to travel around the world map. It is a ps1 game, so you'll need a ps1 emulator and also the English patch came out last year and is a must but you'll need a program to apply the English patch to the game. Go to Serenesforest.net for more info. But yea its a fun game overall and I recommend it, if you played the originals you can see it as a spiritual successor to it.
