Well, you know you will always have friends here in the bay area when you get back! I will eat noodles a lot but not daily for you (the carbs, ugh...)~! I hope your grandfather gets better to see his grandchildren from you ^_-~!

I'm in KS.
I think I've seen there's a bit more of a following in Missouri, but yeah... the whole midwest is a bit of a dead zone. Be prepared... for nothing.

I've only been to Kansas City on business, and since then I say I took a trip to Kansas City, Misery. Really that isn't fair though because it was the trip that sucked, and that wasn't due to Missouri. Also, I was on a business trip so didn't have any time for looking up game shops, etc. The weather was a lot nicer than where I live, but I prefer the cold to the heat.
The plus side is that it is always good to experience a new place, but I moved a lot as a child so my opinion is biased. I think it will all come down to how populous where you are moving is. The smaller the population, the less chance you have for finding anime fans. If you are having trouble, check the local college/ jr. college. I know a lot of times students will form an anime club/group.

I used to live in Missouri for 17 years. I was in O'Fallon, honestly, I wished I had never been dragged out of there.
