Well from a simple perspective magi madoka is basically girls becoming magically imbued to fight witches but it goes much more deeper then that. It usually gives consequences for a lot of actions the girls take along with new found problems associated with the powers. Blue Seed is about a young girl stopping demonic plant like monsters from destroying Japan.

They first appeared in season 1 called the breeding center secret which is a rather darker undertone if you start thinking about it as far as pokemon go.
