Maverick is right about something. "Girls come here for friends" I found that's generally the case but that they are also more open if you fit what they like. My girlfriend was just looking for a local female friend to go with to a wedding but then we talked.

I hear you maverick, Ironically enough anime itself conditions people to have unrealistic expectations too. Normal guy runs into impossibly beautiful bishoujo, girl finds herself in school full of impossibly handsome bishounen/ikemen, that sort of thing. I'm kind of ashamed to admit it but because I couldn't reconcile or lower those expectations I changed myself with the goal of becoming more attractive. So I'd have a better chance.
