@starmia_3 that's a little different than the "traps" the topic is about. But strictly speaking that 12 year old shouldn't have been on the site in the first place. Because of COPPA practically every service on the internet prohibits anyone under the age of 13 from registering. Most mainstream dating sites go further and prohibit anyone under the age of 18 from being a member. If this was a mainstream dating site I don't see how she could have even signed up without lying about her own age and listing herself as 18 on her profile. Ultimately you just have to accept that you're dating online where lying would be a possibility and follow some basic safe practices for online dating. Stuff like avoiding any non-anonymous communication (use the site's private messages, consider using free email services, and don't give out your phone number), not giving out your address, and when you first meet someone being sure to meet somewhere public, arranging your own transportation, and telling family and friends where you're going. And if they don't have an up to date profile photo of themselves you can ask them to send you one privately before you consider meeting them. Some people go as far as to ask the other person to take a picture of themselves holding up something written on paper, to prove it's a photo of them.
