Is being single mean you're a failure?

I don't know why, but a disturbing trend I keep noticing in most mainstream media is the repeated insistence that being single means you are a loser or a geek. Do you believe those lies, or are you afraid to look in the mirror now? Personally, I think that's a load of sh**, since I know some people who married and had children, and they seem to be pretty miserable.

I'm thinking it depends on the person but I see some who have relationships for more materialistic reasons not being too happy together, personally I see it as not being single but not finding someone you can put your total faith in more terrifying...

nah theres nothing wrong with being single relationships are an added perk in life, not a necessity imo

Naw, I think that's such a superficial measure to judge your life by. It's like, hey I'm a super amazing person with super amazing accomplishments who has contributed immensely to society, but since I'm single I'm more of a failure that some not so super people with not so super accomplishments. There's a lot of lies about like relationships and life in general that media likes to perpetuate

You're not single, you are weighing your options. But you do have to narrow them down, since they won't do it themselves.

I think the problem is that the media and also society in general has these expectations that being in a relationship must be mandatory. Every time I visit my parents and grandparents, they always ask me every single time if I dated yet. I give them the exact same answer (no) and they always seem like they are disappointed in me.

From another angle . . . What if you're single because everyone else are "losers"? The way I see it, one shouldn't look down on themselves for not being with someone. Rather they should ask, where could I find the person I am looking for?
