The story follows Yoh Asakura, a care-free and lazy shaman who is isolated in their town due to his supernatural abilities.

Gatts, an incredibly powerful warrior, is a lone swordsman in a medieval-type fantasy world. He loses in a battle with a mysterious swordsman named Griffith, who holds a pendant called the Eye of God.

Crime happened almost every day and almost everywhere in Japan that the authorities had no choice but to approve of a law that allows citizens to carry firearms. The Recently Armed Police of Tokyo was created to eradicate this growing problem.
