It’s a new school year and Ryuuji Takasu discovers not only is he in the same class as his best friend, Yusaku Kitamura, but also Minori Kukshieda whom he's had an undisclosed crush on for quite some time. Ryuuji, the main character, runs into Aisaka Taiga who happens to live next door.

Following on from the events of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime series, the story takes place from December 16 until December 24, a month after the cultural festival. The SOS Brigade, led by Haruhi Suzumiya, makes plans to have a nabe party for Christmas.

Otonokizaka High School stands on the border of three cities: Akihabara—a pop culture mecca that's evolving by the minute; Kanda—a conservative, cultured city where history and tradition reign supreme; and Jinbo—a quiet area reserved for a more mature, sophisticated population. Amidst this culture clash, the school now faces closure due to the enrollment of fewer and fewer students.

This is the game's second OVA adaption, released on May 25, 2002. Set about twelve years before the events of the original OVA, here we see Hiroko Takashiro and Reika Kitami as students at the school, and several new characters are also introduced.
