The Dragon Ball Super manga picks up the story of Goku and his adventures following the defeat of Majin Buu, but prior to the final chapters involving the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament. While an adaptation of Toriyama's outline, it has many storyline differences when compared to the two most-recent Dragon Ball Z movies and the Dragon Ball Super anime.

The Saiyajin named Turlus has come to Earth in order to plant a tree that will both destroy the planet and give him infinite strength. Son Goku and the Z Warriors cannot let this happen and duke it out with the invaders for the sake of the planet.

A Super Namekian named Slug comes to invade Earth. But the Z Warriors do their best to stop Slug and his gang.

Dr. Raichii is the only Tsufurujin (the race eradicated by the Saiyajin many years ago) thought to have survived.

Kami-sama's old nemesis's son has come to exact revenge on Kami-sama for winning the title of Earth's Guardian. After kidnapping Son Gohan and using the dragon balls to gain immortality, he has a final showdown with Goku.

Bulma is a girl in search of the mystical dragonballs that when brought together grant any wish. In her search she bumps into the owner of one of these balls, a strange boy named Goku.
