The story begins with Yggdrasil, a popular online game which is quietly shut down one day; however, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as "the most powerful wizard.

Soma Yukihira 15 years old , whose dream is to become a full time chef in his father’s restaurant and surpass his father’s culinary skills. After Junior High he finds out his father is closing the Restaurant.
