The story is a shonen comedy that takes place in the Kanagawa Prefecture, and centers on Keitaro Urashima and his attempts to fulfill a childhood promise that he made with a girl to enter Tokyo University together. However, he has forgotten the name of the girl he made the promise to and hopes to be accepted into Tokyo University in order to find her.

Mari is a shy, studious girl who has neither a boyfriend nor any friends. One day, Akiko - one of the most fashion-conscious and sociable girls in the class - strikes up a conversation with her out of the blue!

Our story focuses on one such Persocom named Chi and her new owner, Hideki Motosuwa, who is too broke to buy one and yet is lucky enough to have found Chi in the trash.
