Tsukiko Sagi, a shy character designer who created the immensely popular pink dog Maromi, finds herself under pressure to repeat her success. As she walks home that night, she is attacked by an elementary school boy on inline skates.

Set in the year of 1986, Umineko no Naku Koro Ni (Translated as Umineko: When they cry in English) tells the tale of the affluent Ushiromiya family during their yearly tradition to gather in the island of Rokkenjima. But during this time in the island, family bonds are not strengthened.

The story follows Rico, an orphan who dreams of becoming a great cave raider, much like her mother, and solve the mystery of the Abyss. The Abyss is an unexplored enormous cave system inhabited by strange and wonderful creatures, along with mysterious artifacts.

On June 1983, Keiichi Maebara moves with his family to Hinamizawa, a peaceful rural village. He quickly befriends his new schoolmates Rena Ryugu, Mion Sonozaki, Satoko Hojo, and Rika Furude, usually spending their leisure time playing board games.

The story picks up after what happened in season one. Things that are left unexplained in the first season get explained in the new season in three separate arcs.

Due to an untimely death of one of its members, a once happy and playful group of friends drifted and grew apart. Living their lives separately from each other, they secretly blame themselves for the horrible accident, and never got to move on even after years had passed.

The endless cycle of murders has been broken and Rika is finally able to settle down for a normal life with her friends. However, she is involved in a traffic accident and wakes up in a world where everything is different.

Devil Survivor 2 begins with the protagonist and his friend, Daichi, returning from a mock exam, along with their friend Io. The three of them receive an email on their cellphones from Nicaea, a website that forewarns its users of disasters, or their own death.

Nobuaki Kanazawa, who transferred to a high school far away, is afraid of getting intimate with his new classmates because of the events that happened from his previous school. This led him to shut his heart.
