Think what you want; I've worked in marketing and that IS one of the most underhanded types of marketing there is.
If their website is better, they'll get more popular but I won't be joining a website that gets most of it's membership by egging people over from others like it.
Now unless you're educated on marketing strategy and the correlation between it and the attitudes of webmasters and admins, I suggest not attempt to lecture someone older than you and get off my page.
