I've been a fan of gaming since before the Super Nintendo (thank you, Zelda II: Adventure of Link, for having the dubious honor of being my first ever video game experience) and anime since high school ('98-'00) after being introduced to a little anime series called Neon Genesis Evangelion by a friend. That initial marathon from episodes 9 through 24 (I've since seen the entirety) set the style for most of my binge watching and obsessive viewing, which pretty much naturally piggy-backed on the obsessive video gaming I'd already logged for years prior.
I grew up a rather strong Catholic, though I've lapsed since college graduation. Despite not attending regular Mass service, I do still hold true to many of the religious beliefs. I also grew up the eldest of four siblings so I enjoy large family gatherings, though I definitely value my personal time. I lean on the conservative/fundamentalist side of the political spectrum, but I've long grown disillusioned with the entrenched political parties in the US. I don't often like to talk about politics and history, though, which is why I focus on my hobbies.
I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, tried my hand at grad school (ended up being a "PhD: All but Dissertation"), and currently work with an engineering consulting firm. While achieving the degree, I opted to study abroad for a year in Japan; I didn't get any useful credits applicable for graduation, but it was such an awesome and enriching experience that I don't regret it.
After flying solo for most of my life, I find myself - now having an established career and purchasing a house (again; I've been through this once before) - finally seriously musing about companionship. I've always been an introverted nerd and disinterested (read: shy) about dating, so I figure I'll give this online otaku linkup site a try!
Oh yeah, and I also play Pokémon GO. Dunno if that's a selling point, but hey, I've found out it's a good way to meet people and get exercise!
The older I get, the less I care about public opinion, so honestly, I'm just looking for someone who I can help support and wants to have a good time. Just don't be an asshole, or extremely shallow, and we can at least be friends. :D
