XD Sakyamuni is also regarded to be one incarnation of Vishinu's XD...Buddhism and Hinduism..*sighs..however, Buddhism has greatly affected some other places in China :D.I dare some doctrines were mingled into our culture~Moreover, Daoism (religion) learned so many things from Buddhism to get more followers(it was originally a religion for relatively rich and literate people) .http://wx3.sinaimg.cn/large/87d788b2ly1g5a0ajpjlug208w050qqg.gif
Ghost @kuharido It's always interesting how different ideas weave their way into each other.

In this century, Hui Chinese are slightly different from other muslims who have PRC citizenship. Hui people don't know what ethnic groups their ancestors were from, but unlike the Han Chinese, they firmly believe in Islam, as a result, they picked up that name~Hui/回~Interestingly enough, among Hui Chinese, some are descendants of Jews who escaped to China in the ancient times.
Exactly,Hui people have a strong legacy in martial arts. That's because they hated heathens (dominant Manchu and Han were their enemies) .During Qing Dynasty, some riots broke out~In the end, they became fans of peace~Now, they practice martial arts for better health~What martial arts have you practiced?http://wx2.sinaimg.cn/large/87d788b2ly1fthr2uis5yg2046046ti4.gif

Ghost @kuharido My mom might like these. When she lived there women didn't cover as much. Just a shawl around the head like you saw in some of those pictures.
Lishifu @hakutaku Yeah..Now,women have to cover them as much as they can in public(I read a book about that country)..regression.Back then, people weren't worried that they might get killed by unexpected bombs.
Ghost @kuharido Yes, it's quite unfortunate. I'd really like to visit Iraq since the Sumerians were there but it's hard to travel to

You are a laowai/老外(no derogatory connotations in this word; however a few sensitive foreigners don't like it because they feel the Chinese regard them to be outsiders; the same thing goes with words for foreigners in other languages too~Those people just overthink).
In modern times, the Chinese tend to call foreigners (Asians who resemble us in looks aren't included);Gwai Lo is used by Chinese people who are from HK and Guangdong, judging from the prounciation. That Gwai is 鬼( it has two meanings:1.ghost 2.demon), I believe in that context, its meaning is Demon. We called Japanese soldiers 日本鬼子 during the WW2, same usage~http://wx1.sinaimg.cn/large/87d788b2gy1g4ydhgbgrqg206y068qv5.gif
