I've been into anime for awhile but I never went to a convention till I dated my last ex. She was actually 18 at the time and I was 32. We went to ACEN in Chicago 3yrs in a row and Youmacon in Detroit. We are still friends but she never got into anime as much as me and now she's into kpop. Ren fairs are great fun. It's all ages but the core group is more adult crowd. They have late night campfires and drinking, singing and storytelling. They have daytime events like actual fighting and all sorts of things. Sometimes slave auctions and random stuff. Lots of great vendors and food. I like the bigger ones.

Well really there are people of all ages here but not very many much over 25. It's the same going to anime conventions. I don't feel old at Renaissance fairs though. But I haven't gone to one of those in years. I don't like going to conventions alone and haven't had anyone to go with in awhile.
